ACTIVITY DESCRIPTIONS


Both August 25 & 26

Early Morning Group Trail Walk (Cataraqui Trail)  For early risers, park at The Point entrance, and take a walk with fellow alumni. Leaving on the hour starting at 6 a.m.


Registration (First Floor, 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)  Pick up your reunion weekend package including general admission wristband, special event wristband(s), and clothing (if ordered for August 25th).  


Decade Rooms, History Display, & School Tours (First Floor)  Decade rooms include online yearbooks, music and memorabilia from times gone by, announcement boards for class reunions, and of course, former classmates. In addition, current students will be available for school tours.  Do you have knowledge of the history of S.H.S. that you can share with others?  Alumni and former staff are invited to visit historical displays once again.  For those wanting to be recorded, video services may be available. 

Book Signing with Adrea Guitard, Class of 98 - Wrote a book: "Who Say's You Can't Go Home" Grab your copy that you ordered and have it personally signed by Andrea! She will be in the cafeteria on Friday, Aug. 25th from 5-7 p.m. and Sat. from 10-12 p.m. in the main entrance near the registration. Ma Helmes Store is open 10 am - 3:30 pm - Come and see the store recreated by fellow alumni in the school down the hall from the decades rooms. Enjoy some candy and stories and see what Jim and his team have created! 


Silent Auction (Cafeteria, Opens Friday at 10 a.m. and runs until 8 p.m. Saturday)  Visit the silent auction table to bid on a wide variety of donated items. Included is a chicken coup made by the construction class (reserve bid of $650).


Souvenir Sales & Reunion Clothing (Main Entrance, 10 – 2 p.m.) Come check out some of the hand-crafted souvenirs (pins, magnets, and key chains) made by a past graduate Anne Finlay.  Reunion clothing is available through Promo Smart Apparel and must be ordered by participants.  Actual clothing “will” be on sale at the event.  However, if you miss the above deadline, orders can still be made for home delivery for, or after the event. July 31 deadline for August 25 delivery.  Forms are available at www.shs150.com under the Swag Gear tab.


Fashion Show Reunion (Room 012 – New Wing)   The Fashion Show alumni reunion will be held Friday, 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. – to 12 p.m. in Room 012.  There will be displays with pictures, t-shirts, programs, and continuous running videos of fashion shows. Come chat with various staff who ran the show over the years. Invited guests include Judy Kleffman, Adele Amato, Sue Gammon, Gord Darling, Jaime Swain, and Shelley Brooks. Anyone who wants to share memorabilia or has information about others who ran the SHS fashion show please email shelleybrooks2015@gmail.com This event is free with your general admission fee.


Visual Art Show featuring Alumni Works (Event Level, 12 – noon Saturday)  Works of art by alumni will be on display from Friday, beginning at noon, through to Saturday noon.  Any alumni interested in showing their work should contact Kerri Kirkwood (Williams) by email at kerrie.r.kirkwood@gmail.com


Family Swim (The Point) Enjoy the last few days of summer with a swim at the beach on August 25, 12 – 4 p.m. and August 26, 12 - 3 p.m.  Note: No lifeguard on duty, washrooms and change rooms are available.


SHOP TALK – Under the Tent! August 25th, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. & August 26th, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Calling all SHS alumni whose time at SHS and/or career included adventures in the trades.  Thousands of Sydenham High School alumni have obtained first-class achievements in their area of trade. On behalf of the entire SHS alumni, the committee commends each of you for your influence that often goes unnoticed but affects our daily lives!  Gather, and celebrate with your fellow alumni at the 150 SHS Anniversary Reunion under the main tent. Reminisce and share the stories of your journey.


Friday, August 25 Only


Alumni Golf  Play 9 or 18 holes at either Inverary Golf Course, Evergreen (Westport), or Rivendell (Verona).  Tee-off times start at approximately 10 a.m. and only 20 spaces are held for alumni players (5 groups of 4) until August 01.  Cost: $30-$40, plus cart.  Interested folks should decide where they might like to play and contact either Kim Anson Dodds at 613-483-0391 (kdoddsk@yahoo.ca) or Terry Crawford at 613-328-7484 (tlc.crawford1@gmail.com).


Opening Ceremony  Join us at 4 p.m. in the main gym for the official opening of the SHS 150th Reunion; complete with dignitaries, ribbon cutting, special project announcements (yearbooks, archives, giving funds), and cake.


Wine & Cheese (Cafeteria, 4 – 9 p.m.)  Following the opening ceremony, enjoy a glass of wine (cash bar), a cheese/light snack, view works of art, bid on silent auction items, and visit with old friends. This event is now open to everyone, no ticket is required.  Those who previously purchased a ticket receive two drink tickets or a cash refund.  


Variety Show featuring Alumni (Main Gym, 7 – 10 p.m.)  Come for an evening of music, skits, trivia, school cheers, and slide shows of all activities through the years.  Seats are limited.  Please call the hotline at 1-844-386-2835 only until AUG. 23rd at midnight. Leave a message, we are catching up with the voicemails. No one will be missed.


SATURDAY, AUGUST 26 ONLY


Reunion Decades Class Photos From 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., listen for PA announcements (every twenty minutes) by decade to have your photo taken with other alumni.  Photos will start with the 2000s (10 a.m.), then the 90s (10:20 a.m.), and so on, to the 50s at 11:40 a.m.). Location to be announced.


Softball Games (The Point, 12 – 3 p.m.)  Teams will be divided up for innings of softball play. Bring a water bottle, gloves, and any bats you have.  Please email your team to shs150reunion@gmail.com in advance if you can.


Face Painting   Bring the kids to The Point Mezzanine for free face painting from 12 – 3 p.m.


Morning Badminton, Basketball, and Volleyball  From 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. join other alumni for friendly games of half-court. Walk-ons welcome.  


Golden Eagles Athletic Games  Join us at the field for friendly games of touch football, field hockey, and soccer, all on half-fields.  Walk-ons welcome! Former coaches will be on the sidelines! This event will launch the Lucky Spike Fund, established by the family of long-time SHS coach Ken Dearborn (1946-2020) and representing ALL SHS coaches both past and present who believe that no student-athlete wishing to be a Golden Eagle, should be denied the opportunity because of financial hardship. At the event, volunteers may approach you for donations using a QR code link or direct you to the LDSB Charitable Impact giving page. 


S.H.S. 150TH Party (Main Gym  8 – 1:00 a.m.)  For those who like to dance the night away, it features live music by Texas Tuxedo, Hellhound Trail, Reckless and Banded, and the SHS Alumni Band. For those who would like a quieter option to sit and visit with friends, while enjoying background music of the decades provided by a DJ. Must be of legal drinking age, cash bar available. Admission: In advance, or at the door, until sold out.   


Under the Tent  Throughout the reunion, gather and visit with alumni under the tent in the north parking lot.  Have a bite to eat (food trucks available), share a drink (beer available Saturday, noon onward, and free non-alcoholic refreshments throughout), and on Saturday night enjoy a quieter option for visiting while listening to background music throughout the decades by a live DJ.  At times listed under “Shop Talk”, share stories and adventures in the trades (see description above). Lastly, spend a few more moments at the pancake breakfast and closing ceremony. 


Sunday, August 27 only


Pancake Breakfast (Under the Tent, 8:00 – 10:30 a.m.)  On behalf of SHS, we invite alumni and the community to join us for a pancake breakfast.  Enjoy some final visits and hugs over a plate of yummy pancakes, and make new friends, as our reunion draws to a close.  The cost is $10, in advance with registration, or at the door.  General admission is not required to attend as this event is open to the public.


Closing Ceremony (Under the Tent, 9:30 a.m.) Join Glenn Foster at 9:30 a.m. as they draw the reunion to a close.  Glenn will lead us all in song, including singing the School Song (words provided) and he and other committee members will reflect on the years past as the reunion closes passing on the tradition of spirit, heritage, and success to the next generation.
